Move from a case or report reference to the documents behind it. Keep NJDEP environmental records separate from municipal construction files.

Before you search
Start with the right identifiers.
Address, municipality, incident/PI number, document type and approximate dates.
Bring what you have. Missing identifiers can be part of the route review.01
Locate the reference
Start with DataMiner to identify the relevant environmental reference. Record the search terms and date. A name or nearby location alone is not enough to associate a file with your property; compare the identifiers in the source.
Check NJDEP's document access system for the identified file. Keep the actual report title, issuer and date, not only the search listing. Distinguish the report you located from attachments or final correspondence that remain missing.
If the attachment is unavailable, prepare a narrowly described NJDEP records request. Ask for existing documents tied to the reference rather than asking the custodian to certify the property. Follow the current official channel requirements.
An identifiable report or attachment associated with the correct NJDEP case.
Case reference
Compare the address and PI/incident number across DataMiner and the document.
Still missing? A report title or index entry alone is not the report.
Document and attachments
Record title, author/issuer, date, revision and included attachments.
Still missing? Name missing appendices or final correspondence in the request.
Comparison checklist by Oil Tank Route, based on the official routes above. Not an agency certification, document authentication or a property-safety finding.
Your private record worksheet
Keep the next step clear.
Prepare search keys here, open the official sources above, then record what happened. Nothing is searched or sent automatically. A postal city or ZIP does not establish legal jurisdiction.
Suggested document scope for this route: the case report, attachments and final correspondence associated with the known incident or PI number. Narrow this to the files you still need.
Your next actions
Start with the identifiers and first applicable source. An online blank, an inaccessible portal and an agency no-record reply are three different outcomes.
No result is not proof of no tank. A candidate document still needs its property, issuer, dates and stated scope checked.
Review and edit bracketed fields after copying. Use the agency’s current official form, disclosures and fee instructions. Drafted ≠ sent ≠ acknowledged ≠ delivered.
Default: this tab’s session only. Device saving is optional; avoid it on shared devices. No property details enter the page URL or analytics.
Optional human research is available for NJ/NY, subject to intake review. The worksheet is separate and is not attached automatically.
Make the request specific
A ready-to-adapt outline.
Please provide [report, attachment or correspondence] for [property], incident/PI [number], during [dates]. The online reference is [reference]. Please advise of fees before chargeable work.
Replace the bracketed fields and follow the agency’s current form, disclosure, and fee instructions. This is a draft, not a sent request.
Keep the limits visible.
Online availability is not a complete case inventory. Municipal permit and completion documents may need a separate local request.
Send the property and your question. First, we confirm whether we can help and which records to pursue. You do not need an existing file to get started.
Cost
Free during the founder-led beta. Any agency fees are identified separately before a paid request.
First response
Initial route review target: 2 business days—not a final report deadline.
Your records
Private intake. No public case pages.
We confirm the scope and any request authorization before agency outreach. Agency timing varies; a record may be unavailable. Research is not a safety certification or legal opinion.
